Do I need an architect for a renovation in a heritage conservation area?
It is not mandatory, but it makes a substantial difference. Heritage conservation areas such as Haberfield have strict controls on what is visible from the street, and councils respond well to applications prepared by architects who understand those controls. A well-designed proposal is more likely to be approved the first time.
How much does an architect cost for an Inner West home?

Should I renovate or do a knockdown rebuild?
It depends on the condition of the existing home, heritage controls on your street and what you want to achieve. Outside conservation areas, a rebuild often delivers better value beyond a certain renovation scope. We assess this honestly in the first consultation, and we will tell you if the numbers favour the simpler path.
